Congratulations on being our valued customer for almost 25 years! As we, the German Centre Sin­ga­pore are turning 25 years, we want to say DANKESCHÖN – a big THANK YOU!

Could you tell us more about your company, what kind of products, services or solutions do you offer as well as the type of customers you serve?

RICMAS International Pte. Ltd. is a specializes only in fully automatic Espresso Machines. We are heavily backed by JURA Switzerland and WMF Germany. As such, we are more similar to a factory repre­sen­tative than just a trading company of any coffee equipment. Besides selling machines, we take servicing very seriously and we believe that this is one of our backbones for success.

Our customers range from households, offices to restaurants, chain operators and hotels. Cruise Liners are some of our larger customers.

During these 25 years, why was it important for your company to have a ‘footprint’ in Sin­ga­pore and why do you choose the German Centre Sin­ga­pore?

There are many opinions about Sin­ga­pore as a country. I personally feel that Sin­ga­pore as a base allows businesses to run smoothly and easily. Ricmas' Sin­ga­pore employees are knowledgeable, willing to learn and extremely easy to get along with. This also resonates with the German Centre Sin­ga­pore's culture. Besides that, the Sin­ga­pore Customs allows for business processes to run quickly and is cost efficient. Lastly, Sin­ga­pore is a nice place to live in and offers so many different cuisines, whatever your preferences might be.

Your company has been in the German Centre for 25 years, what are some of the advantages of being in the building?

I have spent more than 30 years in Asia and have seen buildings with very impressive names on it, all-over South-East Asia. What I appreciate in the German Centre is that it meets my expectations in terms of cleanliness, and is a very presentable office building to invite our customers and backers to.

Being a long serving tenant, what does your company look forward to on your future landlord-tenant relationship with the German Centre Sin­ga­pore?

We look forward to a continuation of good management, where the team is and continues to be pleasant, understanding, and friendly.

What advice would you give to other companies who would like to set up their business in the German Centre Sin­ga­pore?

I think that the German Centre has a good location in Sin­ga­pore, which can be important especially at the beginning. The German Centre allows you to have the flexibility of renting a small office space at very reasonable cost and then expand as your business grows larger. I started with one table and today we rent 10 units. The building is not overwhelming, and it seems everybody knows one another - that gives you a good sense of belonging which larger buildings cannot offer. 

Lastly, what is the best experience / memory you have of the German Centre during these 25 years?

I have had many great experiences in the German Centre. I love the staff who are friendly and greet you in the morning or whenever we cross paths. It gives you that sense of “being home”.
